What Makes a Blog Successful? It Builds a Community
How can you say a blog is successful? A blog can be successful only when you can attract a community. The most successful topic today in blogging community is blogging itself. I find several blogs in the blogosphere that deal with blogging only. Without surprise there is a big fan following for all of them.
What makes a blog successful? Wendy Piersall of eMoms @ Home in the biggest post of her life says:
A successful blog isn’t a successful person - it is a successful community of smart people who know how to add to the conversation with great insights, great questions, and great blogs in their own right.
I agree. Behind the success of Problogger, Digital Inspiration, Successful Blog, John Chow Blog, etc are a community.
These blogs are successful because they successfully attracted a community of smart people, between them was active discussions, brainstorming and active sharing of ideas, resources and thoughts. Each of them took the role of thought leaders and provided readers with timely advice, tips and news on latest developments in blogosphere. The most important aspect of these blogs is that they success (of anyone) was a celebration.
For example I reached the Wendy Piersall post on her success through a Pro Blogger post. Taking these blogs as study materials, you can find three elements that attract success to a blog.
- Timely advice useful for the readers
- Ability to build a community with smart communication
- Sharing the success of others
Do you have it in you to become a thought leader, a resource center and the venue to celebrate success?
