How to Subscribe with RSS/Feed Readers
RSS/feed readers make the task of keeping up to date with any developments on your favorite topics while not cluttering your email inbox. Latest updates to a single point without wading through unwanted emails, is the best thing that RSS or site feeds brings. However there are still many people who are ignorant about using feed readers.
This blog post is for those people who have never used a feed reader, and I take you step by step through the process of subscribing to a site feed, with the help of a feed reader.
The feed reader I like the most is Blog Lines, from Ask.com.
Signing up for an account at Bloglines is just like signing up for an email address and I am not going to explain that process.
After logging in at BlogLines.com, look at the top left of the page. You will see different links like Feeds, Blog, Clippings, etc.
Click on the Feeds button.
Under the Feeds Menu, you can see three buttons – Add, Edit and Options

To add an RSS Feed, simply click on the Add Button and paste the Feed URL to the box you get.
How to Get the Feed URL?
Look for the RSS/Feed buttons in the page.Right click on the button and select ‘Copy Link Location’ if you are using Firefox, or ‘Copy Short Cut’ if you are using Internet Explorer.
Paste the Feed URL into the Subscribe box. Click Subscribe.
Now you have a feed in your BlogLines feed reader.Subscribing to Ramblifications
Subscribing to Ramblifications is an easier task. Click on the orange button in the left sidebar.
You will be taken to FeedBurner.com page, where you can subscribe to my feed with a number of feed readers.
Click on the Subscribe with BlogLines button. You will be taken to BlogLines.com. Confirm your subscription to Ramblifications.
Managing folders with Bloglines
You can organize hundreds of the feeds that you regularly read into different folders, just like you would do with your email program like Outlook.
First click on the ‘Edit’ tab under ‘Feeds’ button at the top of side pane. Now you can create new folder or re-arrange feeds to different folders by clicking on the feed and dragging it to a new folder of your choice.
Give folder names like Friends, AdSense, Blogging, Affiliate Programs, Pizza, Eating Out, Pubs, Places to Meet Girls or anything ‘as you like it’.
Unsubscribing a Feed
Click on the Feed link on the left pane. Above the feed, you can see unsubscribe link. Click on the unsubscribe link to unsubscribe a feed.
That is all you have to know about just using Bloglines for reading content updated at websites and blogs. Now you don't have to visit all your websites to get latest updates. You can log in to Bloglines and get updates on all the blogs you follow. You also don't have to deal with the clutters of email. However, I still leave an email subscription form. Because I find many people who prefer email subscription to RSS feed subscription. It is their choice, I should not be interfering.
